What it means for TikTok: -Classifying Creators whose TIKTOK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT is shown on multiple platforms and news outlets, therefore free advertisement for them. If that content is marketable then TIKTOK would want to verify its original source What it means for creators: -Identifying yourself as an original creator, making it easier for fans to avoid scams and for brands to know that your content is deemed marketable by the TIKTOK platform Before I get into the HOW AND WHEN you should seek verification if the above reasons do not apply id recommend restructuring your platform and content to work towards TikTok’s parameters
If you think higher brand deals come with a blue checkmark, you're mistaken. However, it does add credibility when a brand is reaching out! But here are the things that have NOTHING TO DO with getting verified: -How many followers (There used to be a "popular creator badge" and those creators kept their verification... but that's not a thing anymore... Brands, Musicians, Celebrities, Heck even News anchors can get verified even with 1 follower) -Other social Media Following (They are a competitor to youtube.... not mutuals... so if you have your gold plaque... whelp they don’t care) -If you have a manager (Having a manager helps the process go quicker... but I along with many creators do not have a manager but I got a checkmark just fine) Here's what you need to be worth VERIFYING your account - News Using your WATERMARKED CONTENT (preferably without your permission) Valid News includes - TV (ABC, CBS, NBS, FOX) -SOME WEBSITES (Huffington, NYT, Food and Wine) Not Valid News -Random websites you haven’t heard of until you saw your video was linked -Blogs - Facebook -Social Media accounts Taking your WATERMARKED CONTENT (Preferably without permission This can only count if they are BIG social media platforms like an Instagram with over 100k followers... or an account that is linked to a verified TikTok..... if Joe Schmo steals your video and goes viral all while cropping the watermark... that's unfortunately the breaks and TikTok doesn’t care -Fake Giveaways you know the "here's my whats app to save money" things..... SCREENSHOT EVERYONE.... compile them.... make a mosaic photo and you’ll need that later!
Now if you have 0 press you can either a) wait for a TikTok worker to stumble upon your content and give you a blue checkmark (unproductive) b) Send your content FREE OF CHARGE to media outlets, Twitter, linked in, YOU NAME IT.... get it in the hands of the people who write the articles and run the stories! Go to Google, type your niche, then do TikTok.... and see what reputable sources are covering it AND WHO WROTE THE STORIES!
Awesome, so you found news clips with your content, Newspapers with your content, and getting fraud... CONGRATS you’re a creator now! People love your content (or hate it, I don’t make the rules) and you don’t know what to do with all of the assets, well before you knock on TikTok’s door asking for a blue badge, you need to get your stuff in order! Make a PDF of all the links you can find! - A google doc works fine - Title what the News/Website is and the title of the article: If you can find out how many views/ SEO stats EVEN BETTER - Under each link that shows your content, add the link to the original content and write the stats for that! this shows how much INITIAL reach it had before it went to another platform Make a Management email For your account, this is where you handle brand deals, conversations with your manager if you have one, but most importantly, looks like management when you reach out to brands Example: CoffeeFanaticsmanagement@gmail.com EXTRA KUDO POINTS IF YOU MAKE A WEBSITE but I didn’t do that (edited)
This is where hard work pays off! Start by sending an email to communitymanager@tiktok.com And say something along the lines of Good Afternoon, I'm reaching out on behalf of the TikTok user "coffeefanatics" and seeking a verification request form. My client has appeared on multiple News such as -1 (no link) -2 (no link) -3(no link) and also has had multiple accounts impersonate my creator to scam/phish their audience I feel it is in the best interest of my client, TikTok, and the security and safety of their viewers to verify this creator as soon as we can I have attached a google drive document with links and photos for examples! Thank you for your time and I’m looking forward to hearing from you. coffeefanaticsmanagement@Gmail.com (888)867-5309
Part 4: THE FORM
Now expect no word from the community manager for about 3- 5 weeks.... this is simply because EVERYONE IS SPAMMING THEM ABOUT GETTING A BLUE CHECK FOR NO REASON..... patience is key They will email you a form (I will attach a form later) Personally, Have the form already pre-filled out so the SECOND they send it to you you can reply and get a faster reply... I did that and got a reply the same day saying it’ll take some time to verify and I was verified SAME DAY Normally though it's another 3-5 weeks... I’m just VERY PREPARED lol
Congrats! Remember, you won't suddenly get brand deals You’ll get a ton of people asking why you’re verified and that you don’t deserve it And at first the finished result seems like a drag But what have you accomplished -You learned how to research people though linked in, news articles, Twitter and more and you can now use this to find brands -You created a portfolio on how your content goes beyond your 15 second TikTok and is a multiplatform phenomenon -More people are willing to go to your other platforms -You now have an email that you can use for your monetizations and seem professional while you do it Verification is a stupid social status.... how you use it.... well that could make you THOUSANDS in revenue
